New F2P fantasy MMO DragonSoul announced

While lots of of you are no doubt playing a sure dragon-themed BioWare title that hit American shores today, the MMORPG world is being graced with a brand spanking new dragon-centric title of its own in the kind of Neonga AG's just-announced DragonSoul.

DragonSoul is a free-to-play fantasy title sporting a political method that is "a main feature of the game" according to a Neonga press release. Players can select to side with one of seven matchless kingdoms, cast votes to choose a ruler, and take the field of battle in said ruler's name. DragonSoul is not entirely about PvP, though, as the title also boasts various non-combat activities including "the cultivation of crops, the mining of resources, the upbringing of pets, and a versatile crafting and upgrade method."

Interested players may register for the closed beta check at the game's official net site and prepare for DragonSoul's open beta which is currently schedule for the second quarter of 2011.

There is a lot to look forward to in the upcoming Runes of Magic chapter 4, as outlined by our own Jeremy Stratton recently. But sometimes, the promise of new systems cannot stand up to an impressive new set of visuals, and a minute of video can provide lots of excitement in ways that game mechanics usually cannot. The latest trailer for the update, now dubbed Lands of Despair, ought to do an excellent job of drumming up player enthusiasm.

Runes of Magic shows off a teaser trailer for Chapter 4

Featuring a slow zoom-in accompanied by a steady and suitably creepy voice-over, the trailer is a step beyond any of the earlier trailers the team has put together. The full trailer can be viewed on the game's official YouTube channel, and it provides an impressive cavalcade of imagery both unsettling and dramatic. Runes of Magic players might not have a exact date for the patch yet, but between the visuals and the method changes, there is plenty to anticipate.
